MLK: Make a Difference, EDUCATION MAJORS PREFERRED

Event Description The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, along with the Diversity and Equity Center, is hosting Mt. Stuart Elementary School for Martin Luther King Jr. - Make a Difference January 16th, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and January 17th, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. They will highlight the impact that Dr. King made on our nation through his leadership. 2nd-5th graders will rotate in small groups through multiple mini-centers to learn more about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteers must have a passion for working with children and interacting with them in ways to assist their learning.

THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR EDUCATION MAJORS TO GET HANDS ON EXPERIENCE.

Volunteer Positions

  • Set-Up: January 16th

    Volunteers will help set-up the MLK activities, tables and chairs, and any other items needed for the event in the SURC Ballroom. Volunteer Check-in will be at the SURC Ballroom at 8:00 AM.
    Shifts: 
    Wednesday, January 16th 2019 from 8:00 am to 8:30 am2/5 positions filled
  • Session 1: January 16th

    Volunteers will interact with 2nd graders from Mt. Stuart Elementary while they participate in MLK activities including; a writing piece, a craft and poster making. Shifts are 1 hour and volunteers may sign up for multiple shifts. Volunteers will be prepped for their session from 8:30 A.M.-9:00 A.M.

  • Session 2: January 16th
