Event Description <p>The CLCE is partnering with the 5th grade classes from Mt. Stuart Elementary School and is hosting an Earth Day field trip at Olmstead Place State Farm. Volunteers will host educational and fun activities for the 5th graders, everything from planting a tree to creating jump ropes from recycled materials.</p>

Volunteer Positions

  • Tree Planting Activity

    Volunteers will work with elementary students to plant a tree in soil and fertilizer in half of a 2 liter bottle. Volunteers will walk around and assist the students and answer any questions that pop up. REMEMBER TO WEAR CLOTHES YOU DON’T MIND GETTING DIRTY.

  • Recycled Jump Rope Activity

    The 5th grade students will be creating jump ropes from recycled plastic bags. Volunteers will receive instructions on how to finish the task and will need to walk around and help any students and answer any questions. REMEMBER TO WEAR CLOTHES YOU DON’T MIND GETTING DIRTY.

  • Historic Farming Equipment Activity

    Volunteers will coordinate with Maurya (farm director) to facilitate a tour of all the old farming equipment on display at Olmstead. Volunteers will need to keep all the students together in a group and direct groups of 5th graders.
