  • Event Date Saturday, April 06th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm
    All storm drainage systems, nation wide, are for the collection of rainwater off of private parking lots and public roadways. Whatever washes off of private property into the streets, ends up in the nearest stream, lake or river untreated.Volunteers will help educate the public about this matter. Volunteers will spray paint a stencil at each drain so the public knows not to put pollutants into the drain system. Overall, you are doing your part to help keep the Yakima River and its tributaries cleaner.

    *Volunteers will check in at 8:30 A.M. in the CLCE located in SURC 256 (upstairs)*
    *We will be using spray paint so please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes!*

    *FREE T-Shirt and Lunch Provided*

  • Event Date Friday, April 12th from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
    Volunteer to help educate 5th graders from Mt. Stuart Elementary on the importance of their impact on the Earth. The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group and Kittitas County Solid Waste want to educate the next generation about how their lives directly affect the health of our Earth by working together to do environmentally friendly activities.
    Lunch, t-shirt, and transportation will be provided for all volunteers. T-SHIRT registration deadline is March 29.

    **EDUCATION MAJORS ONLY**

    Volunteer check-in will be in SURC Pit at 9:30 a.m.

  • Event Date Saturday, April 13th from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
    Olmstead Place State Park needs a hand with maintenance projects to help preserve the past for future generations. The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement and Washington State Parks are seeking volunteers to come out in honor of Earth Month and enjoy the fresh air while assisting a Kittitas Valley landmark. Please wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes.

  • Event Date Saturday, April 20th from 9:15 am to 1:30 pm
    Join the CLCE in this effort to clean up the Yakima River and the surrounding Ellensburg community!

    Explore one of the most exciting landscapes in Central Washington while participating in a longstanding CWU legacy. For the past 46 years, hundreds of CWU students and community members have joined together to clean and protect the Yakima River Canyon and surrounding Ellensburg community. The partnership with City of Ellensburg, Bureau of Land Management, Department of Fish & Wildlife, Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group, Kittitas Valley Event Center, CWU Community Garden, CWU Alumni, Central Environmental Club, IOOF, Lazy F Camp, CWU Wildcat Neighborhood Farm and Kittitas Environmental Education Now (KEEN), brings opportunities for trail maintenance, tree planting, campsite renovation, litter clean up and more.

    Check in will be at the SURC East Patio at 9:15 AM.

    Light breakfast, lunch, FREE t-shirt, transportation and equipment will be provided.
    Please wear appropriate clothing, that you will not mind getting dirty! (long pants, closed toed shoes, etc.)
    Please bring a reusable water bottle as this is an environmentally friendly event!

    In preparation for the busy months ahead, the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Ellensburg Downtown Association, and City of Ellensburg would like your help in making downtown Ellensburg look like new. Help your community shine!
    The event will be on Saturday, April 27 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.

    Check-in will be at the SURC Pit at 8:30 am.

    FREE Lunch, t-shirt, and transportation will be provided for all volunteers.

  • Event Date Friday, May 17th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
    The World Languages and Cultures Department will be hosting its 16th annual World Languages Day on Friday May 17 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. High school students are invited to experience life as a World Languages and Cultures students for a day. Volunteers are needed for a variety of administrative functions involving making the experience of our 300 guests feel the Wild Cat experience. Volunteers will receive a FREE t-shirt and lunch.

    Volunteer check in will be in SURC 201 (upstairs)
