  • Event Date Tuesday, January 28th from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
On Tuesday, January 28, there will be a blood drive with the American Red Cross in SURC 137 A&B. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for approximately 50 CWU students, staff and community members to donate. The American Red Cross (ARC) uses the donated blood to aid local hospitals, as well as hospitals around the country who experience tragedies. Most donated blood stays within Central Washington to help patients suffering from trauma, illness, and injury, while other donations will help during national emergencies. Approximately 39,000 units of blood are needed each day across the U.S, and you could be a part of fulfilling that need. Remember: one donation saves up to THREE lives.

  • Event Date Saturday, March 07th from 8:50 am to 1:30 pm
Hosted through the College of the Sciences (COTS), "Expanding Your Horizons" is an event geared toward 5th-9th grade girls in order to introduce them to career options within the STEM fields. Most are from lower socio-economic families and have little to no exposure to people that work in STEM fields. We have recruited volunteer female presenters actively working in a STEM field to introduce their career and experience in an interactive way.

To learn more about EYH please visit http://www.eyhn.org/ (copy/paste URL). The event is geared towards girls in STEM we would like (if possible) to have a majority of our volunteers to be WOMEN to give the girls representation on all aspects. Volunteers will be assigned tasks based on need. This could be helping with registration, lunch and escorting groups of girls to their sessions in Science 1, Discovery Hall, and Dean Hall.

Preference for those who identify as female since this event is serving girls in STEM.

For volunteer related questions, please contact Dannica Price at (509) 963-2135 or email cots_events@cwu.edu.
