At the Civic Engagement Center, a future in service is a future full of success. Service not only looks great on a resume, it helps students actively use higher education to develop skills for the professional world. Service positions with both campus and community entities allow students to gain experience related to their academic and career goals.
The Civic Engagement Center also offers activities that immerse students in humanitarian and environmental issues through campaigns such as Immersion Excursions, Total Relief Week and Fair Trade.
Civic Engagement activities can help you:
- Develop leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Network with the campus and the community
- Identify a problem and implement a solution
- Mobilize students into philanthropic action
- Apply in-class learning to instigate change
- Develop a repertoire of service to add to your résumé
The Civic Engagement Center also collaborates with the Academic Faculty Fellows to provide service activities directly aligned with classroom objectives so that students can expand classroom experiences to include service-learning activities.
